Home and health care costs

How much will your care cost?

The cost of care will very much depend on the type and amount of care you require.

Once we've established the frequency and type of support that would be best for you, we can provide you with details of the cost. You may find that the benefit system will be able to contribute to the cost of your care and we can help you get the maximum level of benefit that you are entitled to.

Benefits are available to both you and your carers. These fall into two broad categories, explained below - attendance allowance, which is to cover the cost of extra help or direct payments.

Attendance Allowance

Attendance allowance is independent of income and can be used to pay someone to help you with personal care

Find out more about attendance allowance on the Direct Gov website.

Direct Payments

Direct payments are local council payments for people who have been assessed as needing help for social services, and who would like to arrange and pay for their own care and support themselves instead of receiving them directly from the council. For more information please contact your social services department.

Private Health Insurance

Private Health Insurance may cover part or the full cost of your care.
